I think the whole problem stems from the batch authentication. Withholding information can also be seen as lying. Attaching a batch certificate to a bag without explaining can also be seen as attaching an authentic certificate to an inauthentic item although it is not necessarily so. The burden is on the seller to go over and above board after all it is their reputation on the line. For a business to be successful reputation is everything!

Personally, I'm not interested in paying for the brand, I buy luxury because I want high quality goods. So if a fake is good enough to fool me, then I'm willing to pay for that level of materials and craftsmanship. That being said, I worked in luxury, and I can usually clock an obvious fake.
