Hi
The Haitian people are better treated it in DR that in Haiti
France should pay back that money adjusted to today's inflation
Tldr: the us
REBUILD YOUR COUNTRY. LAZY A
Is there a Dominican side of the story? It seems like the video was focused on telling one side of the story..
we need some form of french reparation
I'm kind of confused about the 1929 retroactivity because it says mil novecientos NOVENTA Y nueve, which is 1999. so which one is it?
If you are from russia, usa, france or any other country not just haitian and you have a baby in the Dominican republic the baby will have your nationality it wont have a dominican citizenship in the video you only made it seems like Dominicans are racist and evil this is probably the worst video on youtube by the way if you invade a private land and build a house u could get kick out because u invaded a private property
France has to pay for the damage they did
They can't just pretend they are a clean and free country after all they have cost the Haitian people
As a mixed race being and being half Dominican I am more then in support of these laws.
As the west becomes more conservative so does it’s laws change with this influx of migrants and illegal immigrants people who generations of family are only naturally prone to, “Saving there country”.
Young adults with a very liberal education and sensitive view points don’t understand why it’s important to maintain a wealthy county and keep the poor countries out of the wealthy.
They use words such a, racist to help these people whose countries couldn’t help them. But the Answer is NOT allowing in any poor or war torn migrant into another country simply because of quality of life.
As a black human, I prefer to endure poverty in Africa than experience racism especially in Spanish countries.
don't worry god real.the HAITIANS SHALL BEE ON TOP 🀄✍🙏🙌
This video is trying to make Dominicans look racist but don’t forget majority of Dominicans are of color (black)
This guy speak many lies
There is a hole history of why Haiti it's right now, Not only because the France debt. The hole problem which Haiti is their inestable government which has been like that since it was created. I'm from DR and I live there too. I feel this video brings some misinformation… The idea of a mixed country where every one is mixed, black or white is racism make me laugh. But anyone everyone has their opinion. From my POV we are in this land space together and we have a good relationship although there are some downside in both side. I think we shouldn't call us racism which isn't. This is a culture problem which has been grown by hundreds years and can't be erase by just said "forget about it"…
l
I cancel my holidays in Dom Rep and will never ever set one feet on this country. I really dont understand why the world is looking away and why they dont support Haiti to became a change, solved theres problems and create a better life for them. The question is also why must Haiti people go over the border and can not sell theres products in theres own Sellinghalls on the border in Haiti.
They’d be better off if they were just a united island
Theres a lot of poverty in Dominican Repuiblic too
many people forget the fact that Haiti was the second country to gain its independence in the Americas (The U.S. being first) and they were the first to occupy another colony. that being said the Dominican Republic is the first country to both get its independence from a colonial power (Spain) and a former colony (Haiti).
There are also debates on whether or not Haiti truly gained its independence since many see it as "buying their freedom" since France forced Haiti to pay them for the territory lost, a sum totaling 111 million francs (For perspective, the Louisiana purchase was about 60 Million francs and it was 20x the size of Haiti).
Haiti took advantage of the Spanish-American war and took over the other side of la Hispaniola (the Dominican Republic which was a Spanish colony at the time).
From this point in history, many people Correctly explicate that Haiti, while taking ownership of the Dominican Republic, ended slavery within Dominican territory. And while this is technically true, it isn't completely factual for Dominican citizens. Haiti outlawed the practice of Slavery but through legislation, it essentially made Dominican nationals into second-class citizens, forced them to renounce Spanish and speak French, closed down universities, libraries, and businesses, and forced them into labor in fields- money that they would then use to pay back France for their debt.
What there is today in the Dominican Republic is very similar to the interaction of Conservatives in the U.S. and Mexico. Dominicans fear massive Haitian migration in fear of a "second invasion". This belief has prompted numerous xenophobic legislation against Haitians.
Many people point out that the United States got its independence from the United Kingdom, and today the UK is one of the U.S.'s biggest allies- so why is it so different between the D.R. and Haiti?
Though there is a debate on whether or not Dominicans are justified in their actions and their often sentiment against Haiti both politically and socially, there is history between the two sides of the tiny island that all boils down to many of the issues still echoing in the Americas today: Colonization. These two sides were colonized by two completely different powers.
Haiti has been abused by colonial powers, natural disasters, and sadly overlooked by many internationally included in closets neighbor, but history is important!
The video is sad for many reasons, especially because the Dominican Republic is also a struggling nation whose people also continue to flee in order to have better lives. Presenting the view of both sides would make more sense to the public watching this video (History is the real cause/ would you like to open your doors to a country that dominated you for 22 years and abused you as well?) Why not go to France and show the glory of their nation and all the wonderful wooden furniture the monarchy enjoyed from wood imported from Haiti. Nowadays the country still gets financial gain from displaying it at the museums, while the rain washes away the homes of the devastated landscape left behind by the French who only exploited Haiti's richness. Why not ask the USA the reason for not recognizing Haiti as a Black Nation?
not the lululemon commercial at the end 😂😂😂
Amazing how the Dominican people racially abuse Haiti people whilst both have the same skin color
feance should pay
Honest Haitians will tell you that Haitians are mostly to blame for Haitis problems.
So johnny is this a race issue to??
Hatians tried to wipe them out with a genocide… funny how the always forget that when accusing the Dominicans
We all know why ! because the french and the deminician republic,oh I forgot to say their own black leaders are the cause of their stoppage of economic prosperity that's how!
I thought the most dangerous place for Black Americans is America.
Apparently, Dominican Republic exists.
I feel like America teaches very little about Haiti because if it wasn't for Haiti where would black people be today? And if Dominican republic helped Haiti then things would be different but when AMERICA helps…things get WORSE. They did a event where they said they built THOUSANDS OF HOUSES WHEN THEY ONLY BUILT 6! and guess who built those six….Red cross
Great documentary… Everyone can overcome poverty, you need to activate the entrepreneurial Spirit…the higher the spiritually, the higher the economic power.
This guy is blaming the french for the deforestation in Haiti LOL! The French left Haiti hundreds of years ago. It's the Haitians themselves who are to blame. Also yes Dominicans are concerned about illegal immigration into their country. Stop trying to blame it on racism lol, the majority of Dominicans are as black as or slightly lighter then the average Haitian lol
Those guys settling first are Haitians that already live in the DR. Most of the merchants on that market are Haitians.
I am in my 50s , a white American. Found out recently , I am 6 %Puerto Rican , Dominican and Haitian . I am relearning about my heritage and of this history. This makes me feel so sad for the beautiful people of Haiti. I want to figure out how I and others can help Haiti become a paradise again ? I think they need a massive new Tree planting mission? They should not have to rely on the DR for their livelihood. If anyone has any ideas on ways to help Haiti lets brainstorm?
Colonialism is bad but when it's France involved it's always worst, it's always about taking as much as they can with minimal expenses
