Serena’s feneken learned flame thrower before it had its first official battle
Shame we never see the last rival: Calem
Also dislike how Zac whines about the third episode. It's like the Axew episode in the Unova League.
Yes, indeed that's a very nice little arc. To comment on Episode 3, I think the main purpose other than finding an excuse to show a Legendary Beast is to establish that this season's rivals are all really decent people, a consideration after BW gave the fandom nastier rivals like Shooty that did not go over too well.
Re the Battle Episode, I think the main takeaway of the middle portion is to show that Serena really does cooperate well and organically with Ash, so we don't get tragedies like the A part of DP29 or AG72. It's also a chance to repay the favor in episode 3.
Re the final battle, I agree that Ash should have deployed Froakie. TBF, Episode 1 establishes that Shana's Bulbasaur has enough level advantage over Fennekin it can overcome a type disadvantage, and implies a level advantage in the other two matchups as well. But it is still a little unsporting for Mr. Five-Time League Veteran (where he never did worse than Top-16) to pull his "Level 100" Pikachu on three people . Yeah sure the top spot is nice but … it's interesting to speculate on why he made this choice.
On Serena's part, in addition to her reaction … and honestly I feel quite sorry for her there because the details of the battle showed that she tried to make the correct response. She chose Hidden Power over Flamethrower to get around the Water v Fire disadvantage, and tried to deflect rather than block the more powerful Aqua Tail. I think it's interesting to see how fast she incorporates lessons without a word being said.
But Levels… let no one tell me that "Levels don't exist in Pokemon anime"…, and Tierno I really think even if Serena isn't hot on Ash, that less than gentlemanly stunt likely cost you any chance of winnning her heart…
I liked the summer academy but not this summer camp
Sometimes summer camps can be relaxing
Though I like Pokemon XY/XYZ I liked the Sinnoh Summer Camp more…It had races,battling with some other pokemons,some research and a horror episode too…The Kalos one though introduced new rivals to Ash and Serena ,Serena finally found what she wanted to become…
I got a feeling Zac doesn't like episodes where people get lost😂
