As you guys know, there. area lot of n ew luxury items coming soon to my channel, so I wanted to get a fresh start by rounding up the remaining luxury fails in my collection. I like the Danessa Myricks vision flush or whatever they are called instead of the RB liquid blushes. I use those with my fingers even.
a friend of mine works for Pat McGrath n I had him get my the under eye powder n it's a huge huge disappointment. it's v drying n absolutely unambiguous abt it. Nars' translucent pressed setting powder in Crystal is amazing. no one knows how to use it correctly so ppl don't like it. but if you are ever want to experiment definitely do the NARS presses powder. seriously it's a v understand technology.
translation: pls pls pls do a setting powder comparison and use NARS, too
So funny! I have a completely different skin type (oily) and yet the Pat McGrath foundation does the exact same thing: It emphasizes every tiny teensy flake on my face and yessss! It makes all the things that shine through look ashy…
ok, idea:
have your subs dm you their full face makeup items and if you have them, use them throughout a period of time (ie a week) w your own tried and true products. this would be v important as it minimizes bias that arises from using new products in junction w each other, w/o knowing how they'll work together.
so if the item is a foundation use a concealer that you know works so that the quality of the foundation isn't conflated w the properties of an unknown concealer.
basically a statistical experiment, using ctrl raw materials, and new products as variables.
it's a lot of work but it's the most comprehensive way to try a new product that works in junction w others.
if I were a masochist I'd use Minitab (stats software) and would do a DOE (design of experiment) on how to set up this study.
I think the Rare Beauty people were watching when you called this blush product uninspired, color-wise. The newer colors are much more nuanced. As to the dry-down, the matte is definitely problematic for me too. Here I think it’s worth mentioning the Danessa Myricks multi-tints. So forgiving, easy to apply and such a spot-on skin texture! Wish you talked more about DMB. SO much goodness going on over there!
I could not make the PML foundation work at all. It showed every line, pore, and all texture. I tried different powders, lotions, time between waiting for it to dry, etc. it might be one of the worst foundations I've used (for me anyway). I've never tried the concealer and may give it a chance, but you are not alone in the foundation.
One more thing: On the Pat McGrath undereye brightening powder: I use it with a teensy fan brush and pick up minimal product. Unfortunately it’s hard to pick up teensy amounts. But for me, it works ONLY if I use it this way. I’ll pull out the BioBrightener and see if that does it better. Thanks!
I bought a Natasha detonate puff paint in the nudish color on your recommendation and it is amazing. I’ll definitely buy another color soon!
🧡🍁🥰🍁🧡
That Tom Ford foundation stick sure is doing right by you, Kackie. Your face is looking snatched!
I found you through Amanda Z and watched a few videos before I subscribed because I’m a bit picky but now I finally did! You review exactly the kinds of products I’m interested in and I particularly liked your Victoria Beckham review video you put out a while ago.
Will you be trying the Hermes blushes? They are one of favorite blushes because they don’t fade on my skin within an hour. Curious to hear your thoughts on those! Also, will you be reviewing the new Natasha Denona face palette? I love the colors of the blushes in those. 😊
I completely agree with the PM foundation. I bought two shades because I kept thinking it must be the shade but I finally gave up for all of the reasons you stated. On the other hand, the Chantecaille Future Skin foundation is perfection
I appreciate your mindfulness. For me, I will not ever get to use/own/experience the products reviewed/tested/presented on this channel and Kackie so I watch to kind of vicariously enjoy or be it he loop at least. That said, I am a makeup lover on a tight budget so these kind of vids mean a lot to me from someone who has used both the Lux and the Lax. So yeah, there is a wealth of us, the usually silent yet likely the majority; that consider most of Sephora Luxury. I feel seen, thanks ♀. Lol
I know your delving into luxury beauty right now, but have you thought about trying some indie brands?
I love that Pat McGrath foundation. I have combo skin. I like how it’s light and I don’t have to set it. I do have to mix two shades though.
My head cannon is that Amanda has a closet nest lined with all of the beauty products that mysteriously disappear from your collection 😂
My exact thoughts on the Rare beauty liquid blushes. I returned mine, never looked even.
An even cheaper option for liquid blush with a better formula is Flower beauty blush bombs.
Your makeup looks absolutely amazing. Then I check the description box and oooo my my cc is going to hurt. I love the Kackie going luxe vibes.
kackie we need a full face of your favorite innovative formulas! I want to see what new innovation there are in the makeup industry!
The bareminerals complexion rescue stick is also nice, I also enjoy the alima pure cream concealer
very intrigued by what’s on your face today!!!!! 👀 can’t wait to hear your thoughts
Thought I’d mention that Armani has 50% off best selling stuff on their website today.
I bit the bullet and bought the 6 pack of the Westman Atelier lip balms and I would have never bought Garconne on its own because I didn't think it would work on my skin tone, but turns out it's my perfect My Lips but Better shade, I was SHOCKED. So glad I took the chance after your initial review of them because the colors I didn't think I would like ended up being my favorites lol. 🖤
Can you consider getting the Lisa Eldridge foundation to review it and maybe compare it to anything in your collection?
The Rare Beauty blushes just seem kinda like liquid lipsticks imo
Love hearing your thoughts!
K, have you seen the 'try it' box that kosas offers? It's a sample of almost all their products for ~$35, which in turn gives you a $35 store credit! It has all the colors of concealer, face oil, etc. It even comes with a mini deodorant that I know you like. Thought you could let the 'fam' know!
I love that you said “To some ppl everything at Sephora is luxury priced”, I’d like to add that also to some ppl everything at Ulta is luxury priced… some ppl must shop at the dollar store or five below for cosmetics 🤷♀️
Totally agree with the blush from rare beauty, it's way too pigmented and hard to work with, the ND puff paint are THE BEST 😍💓 I love all the 3 shades, cover all 4 seasons 😚
I think the reason people get up in arms about what is and is not luxury is more about the expectation they have for the video rather than the actual definition of what you personally consider luxury. I think a lot of people in the beauty YouTube space consider prestige high end rather than luxury and even though I enjoyed the video, I was disappointed because I expected you to be talking about things that were a little more expensive. I think if you would have named the video luxury and high end beauty fails and what to try instead, you would keep people from being disappointed. It kind of feels like clickbait otherwise, but I still enjoyed the video even though I was a tad disappointed.
Hey! Loved the video. After I discovered Chantecaille's Future Skin foundation I lost interest in any other foundations. The only one I have and need. But still looking to find my HG concealer. Btw thanks you saved my money on VB blush sticks… I think. Her shades are beautiful though.
Hi! I’m pretty new to your channel and really enjoying your content! Can you or anyone explain the different color caps for the Uoma beauty foundation?! I’ve wanted to try it but when I go to find my shade it always differs from the person’s link. Lotsa love 💜💚
Hi Kackie, I just received the Patrick Ta light bronzer you had recommended. So far I think it looks great on my light to medium tone cool skin. I would never have known about this product before you presented it. Thank you for another win!
❤️❤️❤️
hi kackie. 1st all great video. I just wanna ask. The PMG foundation is it as the same with Koh Gen Do Aqua foundation? In terms of consistency or finishing? I have textured skin eg. acne scars. I was going back and forth on buying the Koh Gen Do foundation but as i mentioned i have textured skin i do not know whether will it emphasis the skin textures? Love u….
What?! I’m so surprised you don’t like the PM foundation. I have dry/maturing skin and it looks beautiful. I love the coverage and finish. I know makeup is subjective, but how dare you! <3
I haven't personally tried it, so I don't know how good of an alternative it is to the Chantecaille concealer (also, they must be around the same price), but the Clé de Peau stick concealer is pretty iconic.
💗💗💗
Will you be trying the new Lisa Eldridge foundation?
Do you have Bell’s palsy?
