2021 NOMOS Tangente & Metro Neomatik 41 Updates:
Two of the best entry doors into German watchmaking are Junghans and NOMOS, who both take a lot of inspiration from the Bauhaus School of Design. However, given the often substantial price jump between the brands, it can be challenging to understand the tangible differences between the watches themselves. In this video, we’ll do an in-depth comparison of two of these brands’ most popular models to see how their approaches to Bauhaus design language differ as well as taking a look at what you’re really getting for your money in each instance.

I would like to note that "Bauhaus" design is pronounced like it is spelled "bau haus", not "baa haa". Every German name of watch is pronounced correctly, and than consistently bauhaus is pronounced incorrectly 🙂
For over 1000$ it should come with sapphire.
Love the Junghans! Have the Meister Telemeter and I stare at it as if her name were Norma Jean 🙂
Junghans is so classic
It's pronounced more like bow-house (like take a bow) than bah-house fyi. Nice video, beautiful watches.
Teddy, your videos are always great, I have never seen better and more sensitive watch presentations. As has already been mentioned here several times, both watches have something for themselves and luckily appeal to individual tastes. The following Junghans watches appeal to me personally: MEISTER AGENDA, DATE ENGLISH – Article No .: 27 / 7066.01 and MEISTER CHRONOSCOPE – Article No .: 27 / 7023.00. And so I would be very happy to receive a review regarding one of these two, and beyond that, what constitutes a PVD coating, or how durable such a coating is.
Junghans speaks more to me 🙂
Why does the Junghans looks so large when it is a 38mm case?
I just received my new 38mm Junghans Max Bill Automatic. It’s my new favorite watch. Incredible design. A truly classic and beautiful watch.
They are both beautiful pieces. I’d be happy to wear either of them. Even if I’m writing this with my Max Bill on my wrist. Haha
I own the Junghans Max Bill, I tried on the Orion 38 – I liked both. To me, the Orion is "smart" whereas the Junghans is "smart casual". I find the Max Bill would work with a pair of chinos, desert boots, heavy shirt and wool jacket – whereas the Nomos only works with a dark blue suit and crisp white shirt.
Thanks for putting the sizes in context
It would have to be the Junghans, with the lume just looks epic on the dial, and I love the space that is there, it just looks cleaner to me!
Hi Teddy, in my search for buying a new watch I came across this video. The video really opened my eyes for the Junghans. I ended up buying the 34mm handwinder and wow… Owning the watch for three weeks now and constantly gazing to my wrist. Unfortunately I did not buy it in your shop (because of taxes and things like that) but at my local jewelry store. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good work.
Two classy, top notch watches, and the dial of the Junghans keeps drawing my attention.
man i CANNOT get your website to work for anything
I love both of these! Although I’m gonna have to lean more towards the Junghans because of the dial design, price and functionality. It’s more legible to me, than the Nomos dial. Although! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Nomos because of the exhibition case back, the in-house movement and finish! It’s absolutely beautiful! I could see myself staring at the movement all the time! They’re both awesome!
Thank you for the video Teddy!
As a german I do know both brands very well. In history Junghans was a very well brand for everyone with their manufactures in the Schwarzwald area. Some watches are legends. But if you you really consider to buy something with value nowadays, there is only Nomos in Glashütte. They build up a serious competition to swiss manufacturer with their in-house movements. In other words: Junghans just build swiss movements in their beautiful watches, but Nomos developed since 1990 out of Eta to their own power houses. They produce closely everything themself besides the hairspring and that is only compareable to Rolex as a non global enterprise.
👎🏻 never buy this watch brand poor service by jughans
I’m a huge fan of NOMOS and Junghans. I own the club date and the Junghans Meister Telemeter
The existence of ghost date crown position pretty much kills Junghans watch. Makes it feel like a franken assembled from pieces of other watches.
I much prefer the Junghans stylistically.
The Nomos Orion Neomatik 39 looks a bit more balanced with the minutes at the hour marks. It makes the watch look a bit more expensive, which it is.
In the last few days the Watchfinder channel made videos on both the Junghans and Nomos watches. It was enlightening. It was shocking to see the lack of fit and finish on the Junghans. I used to be torn between these two watchmakers but after watching these videos I am now convinced. Nomos is qualitatively better.
The Junhans is beautiful, the Nomos quite ugly…
I just bought the Nomos and I'm now looking for the Junghans. They both fit the purpose.
Just bought a metal strap MaxBill. Wd you recommend a leather Rios strap?
