Some of the black marks look like they might be from pallet jacks running over the item. I used to work in the back room of a Wal-Mart and saw this happen a lot with the clothes. They would come in these horribly broken down boxes that Wal-Mart insisted on reusing a million times, and stuff would frequently fall out and get run over by the jack, leaving black marks like that from the wheel grease. The item would then get taken to the return booth, and probably ended up on a pallet like this for someone to buy.
Use rubbing alcohol to remove stains it seems to work.

Rub in dawn dish detergent rub in well let sit a an hour and wash. Or use mechanics hand wash. Will take out anything!
