Hey everyone! Here I have 4 things you should stop doing with your luxury items! I wanted to share this as I’ve ruined a few handbags over the years and there are some pointers here that you might be interested to know about.
In particular I’m talking about things you might be doing that could be causing colour transfer, dents, deterioration of patent leather and wearing your designer shoes without sorting out those soles first!
I hope you enjoy and get some tips!

ByTerry were a skincare-only brand for many years, I loved their Baume de Rose range and was really excited when they came out with makeup a couple of years back.
Notes taken..thank you for the useful tips. It made me think how the old and noveau riche keep up in maintaining their luxury items in tiptop condition when they have a massive room full of it. Or maybe they don't baby them too much coz they can easily afford to replace them. sigh
Use silica gel bags!
There is a seller on Etsy that sells bag pillows. They are very affordable and comes in many sizes.
Quite informative to help with my prada collection. Cheers
Here’s the secret:
-3M clear vinyl film
-Exacto knife
-Hair dryer (just a few seconds to seal the edges)
It cost me like a couple dollars to add sole protection to my sister’s 3 Louboutin heels.
I really respect anyone who uses their expensive purchases. Even if they become a bit worn, it’s nice to see them being loved and appreciated. The temptation is to hoard them and never dare to use them and then years later, you feel like you missed out! I suppose they are a good investment and can be resold but money can’t bring joy the way enjoying an item can…
Dang, I was considering getting a designer bag but after hearing this I'm out
What should I stuff my bag with so it keeps it shape then o.o
Would it be better to stuff bags with tissue paper along with silica bead sachets to keep the moisture levels controlled?
How do you store bags to keep the shape if you can’t use tissue paper or bubble wrap? What do you use instead?
These are fantastic tips. Thank you for sharing!
Extremely informative and helpful video. Thank you!
Good pointers and reminders Sophie! Cheers from 🇨🇦
Me never owning expensive designer shoes: “they don’t even come with soles you can walk on?!”
Amazing tips! Enjoyed watching and thank you for sharing your knowledge! There are SOOOO many knock-offs of that Chanel Boy Bag that I don’t even covet it anymore. 😞
For anyone in North America, when you go in to get a shoe re-soled, ask for a Vibram. Same thing as what’s shown in the video, but you can actually get them textured as well so you have a bit more traction! And they do come in Louboutin red!
You should use thing (i don’t know what they called in english but) it kinda like a bag’s organizer (i think) to keep the bag’s structure and work like a organizer also. I bought them for my bag and it is great.
Sorry my english is not good enough.
Good tips 😘
I loved this video. I worked with my uncle's construction company when I was a teen, and we were renovating a bathroom and master clothset. My job was to help the owner empty the closest, and because the steam went into the closet for an extended period, it had made all the leather goods mold. I had to suit up in a mold remediation suit and respirator and remove all the items. They had to send some of the things to a restoration company, but they had designer bags, shoes, and clothing. I will never forget that experience. Storage know-how is essential, so thank you for your information.
Back in the old days we used to wipe patent leather with Vasoline then of course wipe it off cleaned up well
All this money for a pair of shoes that don't hold up to outside use!?
Does anyone know, I've just purchased Michael Kors boots, do they need taking to a cobblers?
Hi Sophie, can you please do a video about seasonal outfits, Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall.
If not bubble wrap or tissue to keep the shape, then what? 🤷🏻♀️
Would be great to see how you recommend storing designer bags!
Thank you so much for this Sophie.
I love the look of patent. I'm so glad I gave this a watch before I started saving for one.
Apologies if I missed this information somewhere, but what would you recommend using to stuff the bags with to help keep their shape if not tissue or bubble wrap? Thanks so much for the tips!
It ll be a great habit to take all your bags out to air once very while
Should you store bags with thick metal chains by putting the chain inside the bag? I have one luxury bag i just purchased and i want to keep it as long as possible. Its a YSL croc treated sunset bag with the thick silver chains. Should i keep the chains away from the body of the bag?
Welp never buying vernis lol 😂
Can’t you just store the bags inside the dust bag?
The problem sounds more like a case of too much humidity in your home/storage area. A dehumidifier might be a good idea. I have stored leather bags for years with tissue inside and had no issues. But then the room was dry and I maintained a normal room temperature of about 18-20°C.
Also suede ! It rubs off. I ruined many clothes by suede bags.
The condition of that damaged pair of red bottoms reminds me of the episode in Emily in Paris where they go to the immersive Van Gogh exhibit. Hers were damaged too! I was surprised to see they didn't give her a new pair in a shot where the bottoms would be featured and chalked it up to only having so many pairs on set. But finding out now that there's an easy way to preserve that–or at least preserve it better–makes me a little annoyed.

Archivist here! Acid-free paper would be better for storage! I would not recommend bubble wrap. Any kind of standard plastic can trap moisture
Yes I always put the chains inside my bag before I put them away so that it doesn’t leaves marks on the bag!
I have a patent Chanel maxi from 2011 and it’s not sticky yet but I’m terrified of it happening! It’s black and sitting on a white bookcase tho so I suppose I should put a dustbag in between the two asap 😅
I use the stuffed animals my kid doesn't play with to store my bags. It works.
I need to go check on my stored bags after watching this video
