This is a helpful review, and thank you for covering some practical concern like the cost and challenge of acquiring split toe socks. This is the first I've encountered a split toe shoe — I'm located in the USA — so it's interesting and still unusual to me. Since you asked about interest after the video — no way I will be pulling the trigger on these (I don't feel confident enough in a style so different from my usual shoes), but I am more generally interested in this style of shoe after your video. Tolles Video! Mich schreckt der Split Toe leider ab. Finde die Nike Drifter ganz geil, aber diesen Split Toe finde ich optisch einfach nicht schön. Kann auch daran liegen dass ich eher Fan von klobigen oder "gerade" designten Schuhen bin.
As I wear primarily Vibram Five Fingers, I can totally agree, you can get used to those socks and shoes. Original Tabi and other barefoot shoes, and to the extreme fivefingers, are very different in the way you walk in, many people dont like that. On the other hand side, being able to grip stairs with your toes while walking down a staircase, feeling the ground, really is special. Gives you a completely different feeling of your surroundings. And relieved me from knee pain in distance running.
There are some good quality Tabi or Toe socks out there – there is a german brand "Knitido" with toe and tabi socks, and I primarily wear Injinji toe socks since 2018. And if you are searching for higher quality tabi, there are people selling hand made jika tabi on etsy and other places.
I've had these shoes on my radar since they released, not the first tabi shoe by maharishi either. I still dig them, but after the video I think I want the pants more 😉

LOLz. I can recognize this design in the blink of an eye. They basically bulk buy from MARUGO Store in Tokyo then they added decals with their logo
